At the 223rd Annual Meeting of the Connecticut State Medical Society, Henry E. Jacobs, MD, JD was sworn in as the Society's 177th President.
Dr. Jacobs is a West Hartford Obstetrician-Gynecologist and Senior Attending at Hartford Hospital.
Long active in organized medicine, Dr. Jacobs has served in a number of leadership roles at the Connecticut State Medical Society, including Councilor, Chair of the CSMS Judiciary and Ethics Committee, Co-Chair of the CSMS Managed Care Committee, and a member of the CSMS Quality of Care Committee. He is also a Past President of the Hartford County Medical Association, and chaired the HCMA Board of Directors. In addition, Dr. Jacobs is a former CSMS Alternate Delegate to the American Medical Association. He is Chair of HCMA's Review Committee.
At the state level, Dr. Jacobs served on the Connecticut Medical Examining Board and as a Hearing Officer of the Department of Public Health Medical Licensing Board. He also served on the Sustinet Committee and the Healthfirst Legislative Committees in the past.
Also active on the national stage, Dr. Jacobs represented Connecticut in Washington at the Federation of State Medical Licensing Boards and the Healthsouth Medical Advisory Board.
Dr. Jacobs earned a BA in Math, Chemistry and Physics at Colgate University, and his MD at University of Connecticut School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
Dr. Jacobs earned his JD at Western New England University School of Law and is a licensed Connecticut attorney admitted to the United States Supreme Court Bar.
In addition to his professional responsibilities, Dr. Jacobs is an accomplished photographer. Much of his work hangs in the corridors of the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York City. He has had successful solo exhibitions and his photography is in private collections.
