On behalf of our physician and physician in training members, the Connecticut State Medical Society would like to thank the entire Connecticut Congressional delegation for their unanimous support of H.R. 2, the “Medicare and CHIP Reauthorization Act” (MACRA):
US Senator Richard Blumenthal
US Senator Chris Murphy
US Representative John Larson (CT-1)
US Representative Joe Courtney (CT-2)
US Representative Rosa DeLauro (CT-3)
US Representative Jim Himes (CT-4)
US Representative Elizabeth Esty (CT-5)
This historic vote ended a costly and unworkable system of payment for Medicare services. The nation’s seniors and the physicians who care for them will no longer face the uncertainty caused by thirteen years of expiring patches, potential payment cuts, and worries about access to care.
MACRA will incorporate new quality-based models of care and reimbursement, providing greater stability for seniors and their physicians in the years to come.
