Congratulations to CSMS Councilor Joseph Feuerstein, MD (L) for being awarded the 2015 Doctors of Distinction Award for Excellence in Medical Research. In addition to his family medicine practice, Dr. Feuerstein is the Director of Integrative Medicine at Stamford Hospital.
Also winning a Doctors of Distinction award was CSMS Life Member Albert Burke, MD (Leadership in Medical Advocacy Award). Dr. Burke planned and developed the Whittingham Cancer Center at Norwalk Hospital, and currently serves as a volunteer physician for the AmeriCares Free Clinics.
Michael R. Marks, MD, MBA, received the Connecticut Orthopaedic Society’s (COS) 2015 Orthopaedist of the Year award during the Annual Meeting held on 5/8/15 in Farmington, CT. Dr. Marks was nominated and elected for the Society’s prestigious honor and highest award by the COS Board of Directors. He was selected by his peers for his leadership and commitment to the Society, his dedication to the integrity of the practice of medicine, and his tireless pursuit for legislative representation for the profession and patients at a state and national level. Ken Yanagisawa, MD, FACS was named Chair of the Socioeconomic and Grassroots Committee of the Board of Governors (BOG), American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (AAO-HNS/F), and member of the BOG Executive Committee.
He is pleased to announce that the Connecticut Ear Nose and Throat Society (of which he is Immediate Past President) was recognized as the BOG’s Model Society Award Honorable Mention recipient for its work supporting excellent patient care, physician and patient legislative advocacy, and public relations programs such as the free head and neck cancer screenings offered every spring throughout CT. The award will be presented at the 2015 AAO-HNS/F Annual Meeting in Dallas this September.
