PAI Comments on CMS and ONC Proposed Rules on Interoperability and Increasing Patient Access to their Health Information

Earlier this year, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) released two proposed rules on interoperability, information blocking, and patient access to their health information:

PAI’s comments on CMS’s proposed rule and ONC’s proposed rule on interoperability and patient access highlighted the need to streamline and reduce unnecessary burdens related to EHRs and increase interoperability of health IT for both patients and physicians to provide a holistic view of a patient’s health and enhance informed decision-making.
