2014 General Assembly Session

The Connecticut General Assembly is considered a part-time legislature. Sessions alternate between “long sessions” in odd-numbered years (January – June) and “short sessions” in even-numbered years (February – May).

In the 2014 session, CSMS physician leaders presented formal testimony to the General Law, Human Services, Insurance and Real Estate, Labor and Public Employees, and Public Health Committees. In addition, CSMS members submitted written and in-person testimonies, and made calls, emails and personal visits to their representatives.

2/28/14 – Public Health Committee Testimony

Primary CSMS testimony on SB 36 An Act Concerning The Governor’s Recommendations to Improve Access to Care (APRN independent practice) was presented by CSMS President Michael Saffir, MD.

CSMS also submitted testimony from a CSMS study that found significant differences in prescribing patterns for psychotropic medications between physicians and APRNs.
